Who doesn't love trains?

Tonight the whole family got into some serious train playing. Of course, in order to play, the entire box of trains had to be dumped out onto the floor. And no cat can resist an empty box...

And there he sat. And watched the trains...

And watched. Until he couldn't stand it anymore! and....

Pounce!

Superhero Bedroom, Part II

So Matthew's superhero bedroom is done at last, and I have to say, it's pretty cute!
His favorite superheros adorn the walls above his bed, and he now has Batman and Spiderman sheets (well, pillowcases and pillow shams, anyway).
And Mormor made an excellent matching cover to his bed rail, to replace the old cover that matched his trucks and cars bedding. We needed the bedrail cover, because Matthew LOVES the series of pockets that are built into the cover on the interior side of the bed frame (great for his sippy cup of water and his favorite stuffed animals).

And of course, the new Spider-man lamp. This will eventually have a new lamp base that is sized more appropriately for the shade (which is much larger than his old lamp shade).

He is so proud of his new bedroom and really thinks that he is a big boy since he now has a big boy room.

Just Matthew

Conversation that happened a few minutes ago before Matthew went to bed:

Kristi: Matthew, what do you think you want to be when you grow up?
Matthew: What do you mean, Mommy?
Kristi: Well, you could be a fireman, or a policeman, or an astronaut, or something like that. Would you like to be any of those thing?
Matthew: No. When I grow up, I want to be just Matthew.
Kristi: Honey, I think that's a perfect thing to be.

The Amazing Jumping Cat

I realize that I've been a bad blogger lately. I'm sorry. Particular apologies to Matthew's grandparents and great grandparents, who frankly comprise the bulk of the readership of this blog anyway!

In lieu of any actual pictures I've taken recently (reference above apology), here is a really cute video Mormor took when she and Morfar were visiting a few weeks ago. Matthew thinks its hysterical and watches it on the computer over and over again!

I will try to take some more pictures this weekend and get a more recent post up. I've had a cold for a week, and now Matthew has caught it. We went out early today but have mostly been spending a snuggly day at home together.

Love,
Kristi

Pasta Making at Alcuin

Ms. Sara, Matthew's teacher, sent a link today with some pictures of a class pasta making project. I believe one of the class Dads came in to teach the kids how to make pasta. There is a great picture of Matthew holding up some fresh pasta in the bunch.

Check them out here!

Visit with Mormor and Morfar

Mormor and Morfar came last week and we had a wonderful visit! Here are some of the highlights...

Playing in the backyard. Mormor made a crooked walking path through the snow that was a big, big hit. Plus she taught Matthew how to throw snowballs onto the garage roof. Big fun.

Does this one really require an explanation?

Playing in the basement. Morfar is "resting" in the house. Max is resting ON the house.

Max waving "Hi". He does this on command. He's a smart cat. Really!

Snuggling. Mormor and Morfar don't believe any of my stories about how Max is a bad cat. But they are all true.
